Η ιστορία του λιμανιού της Θεσσαλονίκης αρχίζει από τα ελληνιστικά χρόνια. Τον
18ο αι. αποκτά σημαντική εμπορική σημασία, Η Γαλλία, Αγγλία, Βενετία, Ρωσία,
Ολλανδία και η Αυστρία ιδρύουν η μία μετά την άλλη Προξενεία. Το 1923 άνοιξαν
"Ελεύθερη Ζώνη" για τη διευκόλυνση του εμπορίου των βαλκανικών χωρών.

Thessaloniki's harbour
was established in the Hellenistic era.
In the 18th century it acquired
considerable commercial
importance. One after the other,
France, England, Venice, Russia,
Holland and Austria opened
consulates here. In 1923 a free
zone was established to facilitate the
trade of the Balkan countries.
