Wireless Network

After long efforts, the Faculty of Engineering has acquired a wireless network for Internet access in some of its premises. Through an initiative of the Dean’s Office, the project was implemented by the Wireless Infrastructure Group from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and at present covers public areas of interest to the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as public areas with a high number of visitors at the Faculty of Engineering.
During the 1st phase of the attempt, the areas covered include:

  • The Computer Lab of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering “Vergina” in building Ε΄.
  • The library of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in building C ΄.
  • The Computer Lab on the ground floor in building D ΄.
  • The teaching rooms of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • The “Alexandros Tsioumis” amphitheatre.
  • The canteen of the Faculty of Engineering.
  • The “P. Panagiotopoulos” amphitheatre.
  • The small amphitheatre at the Faculty of Engineering.

Wireless Internet access is available to all members of the AUTH academic community, and also to visitors. This specific project is a characteristic example of the services and work that the students of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering can provide. The members of the Wireless Infrastructure Group from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering are: Dionysios Fragkopoulos, Stefanos Theocharis, Dimitra Kokkina, Georgios Amanatidis and Alexandros Kalliotzis.
